MARCH 2010

President’s Message………………….

Dear Chamber Members,

It is so heartwarming to thank the business donors and attendees for such a successful fund-raising dinner/auction.  As a result of the generosity and support of the many businesses in the area, the Chamber raised $3,000 for the scholarship fund.  All auction proceeds go to the scholarship fund.  The fund will be divided among four deserving seniors at West Point, King William, New Kent, and King and Queen High School.  This successful function is just another example of the dedicated businesses and participants in this wonderful community.  In addition to the delicious dinner provide by a Special Occasion Catering, the participants were entertained by the auctioneer, Brinkley Estis and his assistants for the evening, Betty Estis, and Gene Jenkins.

Our next event will be a Breakfast Forum at St. John’s Church on April 23.  We plan to invite the candidates that are running for Town Council and the West Point School Board so that you can meet the Candidates.  We are working on the details and invitations at this time.  The breakfast will be served from 7:30 -9:00 a.m.  There will be a limited number of tickets available due to space, so get your ticket as soon as possible by calling the Chamber office, 843-4620.  Tickets TBA.

Please review the following calendar again for the Chamber’s events.  We are dedicated to providing and/or assisting with many events.  What you don’t see is the long list of volunteers associated with every event. Again, this community is fortunate to have so many dedicated volunteers that make these events and this community a success.

If you have suggestions or ideas to contribute, please be sure and contact one of the Board members or officers, we are always open to new ideas.  In addition, don’t forget to give the Chamber some of your advertising products to be placed in our welcome  bags for new residents and businesses.

2010 is looking positive.  The Chamber and Economic Development are continuing to partner on projects for the Tri-Rivers/West Point area.  We look forward to seeing you at the upcoming Chamber meetings.

Thanks for your continued support,

Sandra Willis
